Cherry Blossoms and Springtime

Spring has taken it's sweet time coming to Korea....but I think it's finally here! This past week was the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. The blossoms only just came out a few days ago though and so we decided to take ourselves down there on Saturday. We went with our friends Peter and Cindy. The festival is held down by the river, near the National Assembly (where part of the government meets) and also close to Yoido Full Gospel Church (the largest Christian congregation in the world). We had a good time checking out the blossoms and all of the activities that they had set up. Many of the street performers were canceled do to the recent sinking of the South Korean Naval ship that sunk off the coast, but we enjoyed ourselves anyway. We also saw a huge protest (we're not sure what for) and hundreds of riot police. Thankfully the protest stayed peaceful. :)

It was fun to get out of the house for a while. After what feels like an incredibly long Winter, it was fun to have some warm weather and see the flowers. Afterward we discovered a Quiznos! So we had a delicious taste of home for dinner. Here are some pictures from our excursion.
